Sustainably designed, this house features a complete ICF shell outfitted with the most energy-conscious materials.

Design Goals

With Finnish roots, this young family wanted a Scandinavian-style home that fits their lifestyle. Access to the outdoors, a central gathering place, and energy efficiency were key goals for the homeowners. The site presented some interesting design challenges with a steep hill and a very strict building envelope.

Maximize building space.

Because of local restrictions, there was limited space to build. The design had to maximize the footprint while staying within regulations.

Space to entertain.

An ample, flexible gathering space designed for entertaining and family events was to be the focal point of the home.

Hit the slopes.

Taking advantage of the natural surroundings, the home provided an opportunity to ski right out of the door.
